“Il jockey della morte” (The Jockey of Death) by Alfred Lind (1915) is an extraordinary film of mystery, love, circus and acrobatic situations: its iconic culmination is the ghostly figure of the eponymous "Jockey of Death", a dismal mask that performs a risky equestrian number. The 38 pieces composed for such a film requires an equally distinctive ensemble, focused on the low register and capable of underlining the variety of atmospheres that Jockey exhibits: two double basses, electric and quarter tone guitar, drums.
